• are able to remain immune to most infections;

• they feed on any organic substance available;

• they are able to climb even long vertical walls;

• have a keen sense of smell;

• they are able to emit other sounds (use them especially at night} to communicate with each other and especially to signal dangers;

• as if that were not enough, they reproduce at an astonishing speed (some species can generate 5-6 mice every 2 months and reproduce, therefore, 5-6 times a year).

The continuous gnawing of mice and rats is a physiological need and is part of their nature, being linked both to the particular conformation of their incisors (chisel-shaped), which grow continuously, and to the need to keep their body temperature constant ( through continuous nutrition). For this reason, by gnawing at everything, they act like authentic devastating machines, causing serious damage not only to foodstuffs (every year mice and rats damage and destroy millions of tons) but, for example, also to cables, beams and pipes.

The fight against rodents, however, is a fight that, despite the technological evolution, is still often recklessly faced with ancient and dangerous methods. And this precisely in an era in which consumer expectations in terms of quality, safety, hygiene and ecology have become the highest, especially for food products.
